about
Perched on Snoopy’s Pier overlooking the beautiful Laguna Madre, Scoopy’s serves up fresh salads, sandwiches, and, most importantly, generous scoops of Blue Bell Ice Cream. There’s simply nothing like enjoying your favorite dessert by the water’s edge, especially as the sun sets over the coast.
Snoopy’s Pier has deep roots in Texas coastal history. It was born out of the Redfish Wars, a fierce battle over commercial fishing rights along the Texas bays and inland waterways. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Ernie Buttler—like many local fishermen—saw the writing on the wall. Rather than being chased by Texas Game Wardens, he decided to hang up his nets and start cooking the very seafood he used to catch.
In August 1980, Ernie and his wife, Corliss, purchased a small bait stand and burger shack with a 600-foot fishing pier on the Intracoastal Waterway. With the help of family and friends (and plenty of favorite recipes), Snoopy’s Pier was born. Over the years, through hard work and a lot of love, it transformed into a beloved family-friendly seafood restaurant known for serving fresh, locally harvested seafood at affordable prices. The on-site fish house and shrimp-breading facility ensure every meal meets the highest standards of quality and freshness.
In 1993, Scoopy’s was added to the pier to offer Snoopy’s guests a sweet way to end their meal—or simply a fun stop for ice cream lovers of all ages. Today, Snoopy’s and Scoopy’s together continue to offer one of the best on-the-water dining experiences in Corpus Christi, and remain a must-visit destination along the Texas Coast.
